Life can be stressful, whether you just got laid off, a bad breakup or even the daily stresses worrying about money, friends, family etc…the list could really go on. We think it’s important for every person to step back from the stresses of every day life and take a vacation. You have the opportunity to live a little, experience and make some memories with your closest friends. Heres the top 10 “how to” on planning a trip with your gal pals.

1. Create a Facebook group or use another platform that allows everyone to share ideas about where they want to go, things they would like to see and activities they would like to do. This is the brainstorming part of the planning process so have fun with it.

2. Decide on a budget. Once you have created the Facebook page it is super important to decide on a budget. Not everyone will be able to take the extravagant vacation or get the time off, so make sure all your girlfriends are on the same page.

3. Divvy up the tasks that need to be done. This can be a lot for one person to handle so assigning one person to a certain task can really help in the planning process. For example, the girlfriend who is a foodie can decide on which restaurants you will eat at, the web savvy girlfriend can search for all sorts of great deals on vacation packages from places like Expedia and the adventure seeker girlfriend can do the research to decide which activities you will all be participating in. Then, put all the ideas together and decide which ones best suit everyones needs.

4. Decide the date. Everyone has things going on so make sure you all choose a date that works best for everyones schedule. It’s a lot easier to plan a trip months and months in advance because this gives you the time to talk to your employers, rearrange schedules and plan accordingly if you have kids or pets that will need to be taken care of.

5. Decide where to stay. If you choose to go to the Grand Canyon or Puerto Vallarta Mexico you will need a clean and comfortable place to stay. To save on money consider things like a bed and breakfast or use Airbnb instead of the usual hotel or resort.

6. Decide on sleeping arrangements before you go. Pull names from a hat or decide which is fairest. Two people who smoke should share a room, or someone who likes the tv on might partner up with a night owl. Whatever you do, don’t decide once you get there on a “first come first serve” basis. This will annoy people and create a hostile environment right from the get go.

7. Have realistic expectations because not everything will go according to plan, especially when you get a bunch of woman in one place. Be sure to arrange down time for everyone to re charge. It can be frustrating travelling with a group of people so taking that “me” time can make or break the vacation.

8. Ease up on the tech. Put the phones and laptops away. If there is an emergency let your family or co workers know how to get a hold of you before leaving for vacation. It is so hard for people to pull away from the technology these days that they forget to take in the experiences around them and enjoy what’s in front of them.

9. Enjoy the time with your girlfriends. Going on vacation with gal pals is about much more than simply having fun. “It offers huge benefits,” says Elizabeth Lombardo, PhD, author of A Happy You: Your Ultimate Prescription for Happiness. When women are with men, they often accommodate the men’s needs first. But with other women, it’s more balanced, as they’re all more likely to accommodate each others.

10. No boys allowed!
