Don’t be Scared of Networking, Come to Our Events

We all get caught in a similar routine: wake up, go to work, get a work out in, maybe connect with some friends, then get ready for the next day. It’s tough to break a routine especially when it’s…well…perfect. So why really fix something that isn’t broken?

As Eleanor Roosevelt said, “Do one thing every day that scares you.”

It’s always a little intimidating to shake things up and be open to new things, but if we don’t challenge ourselves how do we grow, personally or professionally?

As you think about ways to break up your daily routine, the team from Glynt Productions wanted to enlighten you on the idea of networking. As event planners and event-goers we understand the importance of meeting other like-minded individuals who could one day be a mentor, a business acquaintance or even a new friend.

YYC is a vibrant city and our events are a great atmosphere to meet our city’s influencers, young socialites, entrepreneurs and business professionals. This Friday February 26th, ONYX Collective and Glynt Productions are hosting Frozen Ocean, Calgary’s Winter Event, which will be a great opportunity to help you brush up on your networking skills.

Here are some tips to help you get comfortable with networking and to make lasting impressions:

  1. Be prepare for an evening of networking, by putting together an ‘elevator pitch’, that you can recite in any networking situation.
  2. Work the room, don’t cling onto people you already know or to help start your networking experience ask them to introduce you to other people.
  3. Make it your mission to be friendly, open and honest and remember that people are not pedestals. The best part about a networking event is discovering the value of each person you talk too. Ask questions and listen with interest, hear their story.
  4. And most of all, be authentic and just be you!

We can’t wait to see you next Friday working the room, but we also invite you to follow us on social media to stay updated on all of our upcoming events.

Happy Networking!
