talonX Design, Glynt Productions and The Commons Calgary present and invite and member only event: Barrel Night, a night like no other. November 19th will be a night combined with barrel aged cocktails and unconventional designed Christmas Trees, bringing together a wide variety of local Calgarians for unusual artisan cocktails, and the showcasing of incredible artistic arrangements designed by four of Calgary’s most noted interior decorators. 200 young entrepreneurs, creatives, socialites and culture seekers in Calgary gather for a night of fun and entertainment! Four grand Christmas Trees are revealed and enjoyed by the attendees while sipping on truly one of kind drinks prepared by professional bartenders at The Commons Calgary.

Barrel aged cocktails are one of the more fascinating trends in mixology. Barrel aging changes and elevates certain characteristics of a cocktail. The drink is pre-mixed and flavoured and the aging time in the solid wooden barrel mellows the mix bringing out new tastes. Long experimentation with particular cocktails and aging times have led us to a few select mixes which we plan on sharing on this night..

Whats being barrelled this winter?

The Manhattan: The classic, distinct New York cocktail, composed of 2 oz of rye, 1 oz vermouth, 2 dashes of bitters in a cocktail glass. The rye, vermouth are stirred and served with bitters over ice.

The Bijou: A semi-sweet, merry cocktail composed of: 3/4 oz sweet vermouth, 3/4 oz gin, 3/4 oz Green Chartreuse®, 1 dash orange bitters, 1 cherry. All ingredients are shaken (except the cherry) with ice and then strained into a cocktail glass.

Scorched Earth: A hearty, fulfilling and mildly smoky cocktail composed of 1 oz Mezcalm 1 oz Cynar, 1 oz Campari, 1 dash Orange Bitters, 1 dash Maple Bitters, served with an Orange Twist. Ingredients are stirred and lightly shaken.

Barrel Night will not only be coupled with design elements and our signature aged cocktails, but the event is also aimed at raising awareness for a good cause. All proceeds raised through ticket and liquor sales will go to the local charity Even Start, an organization that helps give children the tools they need to be successful by protecting them from poverty and abuse. Money raised through Barrel Night will help Even Start build a new facility where they will be able to help more children and families. If you wish to find out more about Even Start and how you can help, visit their website at http://evenstartfoundation.org/

Barrel Night is a private event, if you wish to attend please send us an email or comment below asking us how you can get invited to this one of a kind event.
